Here are some of the projects I am currently working on:
Blake Remixed
I am currently working on a semi-autobiographical theatre show blending my love of British Hip-Hop with the iconic poetry of William Blake.
From my teenage years spent sneaking into his brother’s bedroom to tape the Radio 1 Rap Show, to performing his music in front of Desmond Tutu and The Da Lai Llama, this is a coming of age story with a difference.
I am honoured to be joined onstage by DJ Woody, the two time Scratch DJ World Champion, whose groundbreaking audio-visual DJ show Turntables in Technicolour has toured internationally.
Blake Remixed brings together music, storytelling, poetry, beatboxing, DJing and interactive video projections, the show is a celebration of some of the greatest countercultural voices in British history.
Project Hip-Hop
For the last 4 years I have regularly run “Project Hip-Hop” at The West Yorkshire Playhouses’ First Floor Youth Facility. “Project Hip-Hop” is a workshop run over 4 Saturday afternoons at First Floor for young people aged 11-19 years old. Participants learn to rap, sing and human beatbox culminating with a performance of original compositions and recreations of popular Hip-Hop tracks. Come and learn, jam, make friends and have fun!
