“Human Beatboxing” is generating percussive musical sounds using the human voice, it is widely associated with imitating musical instruments, sound effects and creating (or recreating) pieces of music. Human Beatboxing originally served as an accompaniment to rapping but is now an art form in its own right.
Human Beatbox workshops allow participants to gain confidence by taking part in a unique learning experience. Participants acquire sounds and skills taught by the tutor, as well as experimenting with their own voice and exploring their musicality. Rhythm games, “call and response” exercises and teamwork are all employed in the process, culminating with the participants devising their own Beatbox masterpiece.
The workshop’s usual format begins with an icebreaker game, followed by a live human beatbox demonstration before a fun, easy-to-understand guide into the participants generating the sounds themselves. Participants can work toward sharing a performance or creating a recording.
